Summer Walker’s Social Anxiety Pushes her to Cancel Tour Dates

Summer Walker’s crippling social anxiety is causing her to cancel twenty of her U.S. tour dates on her “First And Last Tour.”

Walker was open with her fans on social media about her troubles, taking to Twitter and Instagram to address her decision to fans directly.

“I’m not going to be able to finish this tour because it doesn’t really coexist with my social anxiety and my introverted personality,” she said in a video. “I’m a person, I have feelings. I get tired, I get sad and it’s just a lot.”

She added: “I want to give you all what I can, so I’m going to keep making music and I might do a few shows, but I can’t finish.”

Commenters on social media have been critical to the R&B singer for not only canceling her tour dates but also for refusing to hug fans at meet and greets. The backlash has sparked numerous discussions about the misconceptions of mental health and anxiety.

Others have been more supportive and understanding.

She announced that tickets for the now-canceled dates will be refunded. Walker will still perform in nine major cities including San Francisco, Toronto, Chicago, Royal Oak, Boston, Philadelphia, New York City and her home city of Atlanta.
