Kids Parties: Then Versus Stormi World

By  |

If you’re a parent (and even if you’re not), you probably know that our children are at the very center of our world. Seeing them happy and joyful is one of the absolute best gifts in the world. So, when it comes time to celebrate our children and the happiness and joy that they bring to us, we like to do it in the most memorable way possible. But while we may enjoy putting together celebrations that will leave us with those special memories, it can become easy to quickly lose sight of what really matters.

In recent years, birthday parties, baby showers, gender reveals and other child-related celebratory events have evolved. Years back, all you would have needed to bring to these events was a cake, some cute decorations, a nice gift and well wishes for the person of the hour. Now, these events are planned out better than a Superbowl halftime show—and probably cost more too. We have seen a sudden shift from a typical party to an all-out festival of luxury.

This change was apparent from social media coverage of Stormi World 2, the extravagant birthday party thrown by Kylie Jenner for her 2-year-old daughter Stormi Webster this past week. Let’s take a look at exactly how things have changed from your classic party to the age of Stormi World.

Celebration Cake Then:

Oh, how sweet times were when all it took was a yummy cake and a few candles to make a kid’s party feel special!

Vs.

Celebration Cake Now:

Should we be singing “Happy Birthday” or “Here Comes the Bride”, nowadays? There has been a major shift from sheet cakes to luxurious tier cakes. While tier cakes are beautiful and something to always remember, are they really necessary?

Decorations Then:

Celebrations were at their best when the child being celebrated was much more important than the props that were used to design the party.

Vs.

Decorations Now:

What a stunning sight kids’ celebrations have become. While new-age party setups are beautiful, perhaps the décor is beginning to take away from the beauty of the child.

Gifts Then:

Back in the day, all it took was a few nice gifts to put a smile on a child’s face and make the parents feel accomplished in their efforts to celebrate a special moment.

Vs.

Gifts Now:

What a time. Webster surely took the world by storm with this specially-crafted, luxurious playhouse. When I was her age, the only playhouse any child I knew had was created by Little Tikes, and it definitely did not have a balcony.

So, how do you feel about the way kids’ parties have changed? Are you on board with the luxurious celebrations, or do you miss the times when parties could be small and simple, but kept close to your heart?
