Fans Remember Drag and Trans Trailblazer: Lady Red Couture

On Saturday, fans flooded to social media to pay their respects and mourn the loss of Los Angeles’ drag and trans trailblazer, Lady Red Couture, who passed away that afternoon.

Lady Red was not only a captivating performer, but a mentor to other young drag queens. She also co-hosted her own Youtube talk show, “Hey Qween!” with long time friend Johnny McGovern.

McGovern confirmed the death of his friend Lady Red in an Instagram post.

Before her passing, Lady Red had spent the past week in intensive care battling cyclic vomiting syndrome, which includes symptoms of recurring episodes of vomiting, nausea, and lethargy. McGovern had originally created a crowdfunding campaign via Venmo to help cover hospital expenses, which will now go towards her family and funeral arrangements.
