COVID: Costly, but Shopping from Home: Priceless

By  |

Amid the category 5 storm of the Coronavirus pandemic, the majority of us have been forced to weather the elements from the safety of our homes. The mandated shelter-in-place has meant that non-essential businesses are shut down, supplies are limited, and venturing out into public comes with potential risks––all of which has made resuming life as normal extremely difficult.

One way to circumvent the hassle of public shopping is to purchase subscriptions to brands that offer doorstep delivery for a wide range of products. Thus, you can enjoy the same things you love without ever needing to change out of your pajamas.

If that sounds like your kind shopping spree, here are some companies to check out:

Food:

If quarantining has brought out your inner chef, a subscription to a food company like HelloFresh delivers a box of fresh ingredients, a recipe, and thorough instructions, so that you can take the guesswork out of your culinary endeavors. You can customize the number of people eating and the number of meals delivered per week for just $8.99 per serving plus delivery fees.

Wine:

Want a little something to take the edge off? How about three somethings? Winc is a wine company that offers a shipment of three different wine bottles per month that have been personally catered to your tastes based on a brief questionnaire upon signing up. After that, you rate the wines online, and the company will further refine their wine selections so that you can find the perfect glass. The cost of the subscription is $39 a month.

Clothing:

Sure, quarantining has entailed a lot of sweatshirts, stretchy pants, and pajama sets, but there is nothing wrong with trading in your bathrobe for an elegant dress if you want to have a luxurious night on the couch. Luckily, Stitch Fix has a team of expert stylists ready to select items that fit your style without breaking your budget. You simply pay a $20 styling fee, receive clothes in the mail, try them on at home, purchase the pieces you love, and send back the ones you don’t.

Beauty Care:

Perhaps your skin could use a little T.L.C. A $55 monthly subscription to The Detox Box will send you a wide variety of beauty care products from their top-selling brands, valued at $90 per box.  The best part is that all of their products are “green,” meaning that they are cruelty-free and made with natural ingredients.
