Cameron Diaz Protects New Baby From Social Media
Cameron Diaz is a new mom, but she won’t be becoming a mommy blogger.
The 47-year-old actress welcomed her first child with her husband Benji Madden this week. She shared the happy news with a text announcement of her new daughter, Raddix Madden, on Instagram. The actress said that, to protect her daughter’s privacy, she will not be sharing any photos of the baby.
Diaz isn’t the first person to make this decision for their children. The conversation around whether featuring children who cannot consent to having their photos posted is an invasion of privacy has been a hot topic for a few years. In a 2016 article by The Guardian, some young teenagers whose parents had posted about their lives online said that the experience gave them trust issues.
However, Diaz is an outlier in the current state of online parenting where posting baby photos is normalized. Several big celebrities, like Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Teigen, have been known to post baby photos on Instagram.
