COVID-19 Triggers Instagram Live Obsession

By  |

Celebrities aren’t letting COVID-19 quarantine stop them from entertaining fans, now using Instagram live as an outlet.  While celebs have allowed random users to come on with them, others are coming together for duets, battles, and conversations that have almost every social media platform buzzing.

In addition, the battle of the celebrity duo who can get the most Instagram live viewers has been pretty exciting to watch, and as soon as one breaks a record, another is there to one-up it.   Here are some record breaking Instagram lives between some of our favorite celebs:

Jill Scott & Erikah Badu – 700,000 viewers

Teddy Riley & Babyface – 401,000 viewers

Tory Lanez & Drake – over 310,000 viewers

Lil Jon & T-Pain – 270,000 viewers

While some of these battles/conversations are planned ahead of time for our enjoyment, some have been sweet surprises, with one celebrity joining another for fun.  In cases like Tory Lanez, his viewers went up by the thousands as soon as Drake got on.  In Scott and Badu’s cases, the two neo-soul queens were a part of a Instagram Live Verzuz battle series originally created by Timbaland and Swizz Beats to show off mainly their DJ skills.

What we’d love to know is who everyone wants to see get together on Instagram Live next?  It could be based on who would have great energy together, or the mere fact that some celebrities have supposed beef to hash out.  While most of the record-breaking collabs have been musically charged with the intent of showing who has the best old, new or unreleased tunes, these choices come from all parts of the industry: singing, acting, dancing, reality TV.  Let us know what you’d like to see!
