2020’s Oscar-Winning Women

By  |

Despite the 92nd Academy Awards now-infamous snub of female directors, several women in Hollywood were recognized for their excellence last night. Laura Dern took home her first Oscar after years of past nominations. While it hurts to not see Greta Gerwig’s name not among the list of director nominees, her costume designer, Jacqueline Durran did get to take home an Oscar for Best Costume Design for “Little Women.” Here is a compiled list of the female Oscar winners of the night:

Best Actress in a Leading Role: Renée Zellweger, “Judy”

Zellweger is the 7th female performer in history to have wins in both leadinf actress roles and supporting actress categories.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Laura Dern, “Marriage Story”

Dern is now the first actress to ever win for a performance in a Netflix movie.

Best Costume Design: Jacqueline Durran, “Little Women”

Durran won an Academy Award in Costume Design for “Anna Karenina” back in 2012. Durran’s designs come from careful research as she attempts, and excels, in bringing to life classic novel adaptations.
