This Up-and-Coming Podcast Wants to Inspire Women to Change the World

Anna Garvey and Julia Stenton started their podcast All About Eve to inspire and uplift women by highlighting the journeys of women who created their own success. These two best friends aim to inspire current and future women by hearing about others who have changed the world.

“Our favorite part of doing the podcast is having an excuse to spend an hour in a cupboard drinking with one of our best friends and learning about incredibly inspiring women,” Stenton said.

After introducing each episode with friendly conversation about their day to day lives, the two women take turns sharing stories that they have collected about women who hustle.

“The only thing [about our friendship] that has evolved with the podcast is that instead of drinking wine and getting fired up talking about impressive women in the pub, we drink wine and get fired up talking about impressive women in Julia’s cupboard,” Garvey said.

The podcast pair decided to start recording because they mutually love being around strong women who have created their own success. They aim to redefine what success looks like, and to let every woman know they are exactly where and who they need to be. All About Eve centers around education, both hosts take time to research women who have made an impact and desire to change the world.

“We truly love every woman we discuss and our enthusiasm for them is infectious,” Garvey said. “You cannot end our podcast without feeling a little more hopeful that you can be the person you want to be.”

While Garvey and Stenton’s goal is to educate others, they also have learned a lot from making the podcast and doing their research on ambitious women.

“In large part, this is by relearning the expectations placed on women and femmes, and reinforcing that confidence, self-belief and rebellion are female qualities too,” Garvey said. “From learning about these women we have changed our own approach to our jobs and relationships and we know the same will be true for our listeners.”

However, Garvey and Stanton have faced several obstacles while launching into the podcast world. They said that launching into the saturated market of women’s podcasts is not always easy, especially without a celebrity at the forefront.

“As with any podcast without a celebrity at the helm, finding our audience has been a challenge, however, by releasing a steady stream of funny and engaging podcasts about women who have changed the world for the better, we have built up a loyal and effusive following of women and men who we are so privileged to get to know,” Stenton said. “We aren’t the first people to form a podcast dedicated to the lives of brilliant women, granted there certainly aren’t enough, but we like to find the little known stories to tell wherever possible, giving an insight into these women’s lives that have sparked our interest.”

All About Eve serves to help other women know that believing in themselves may be a rebellion, but also that they can do anything they set their mind to. By sharing stories of other women who have done it, Garvey and Stanton give voices to those who may not have been able to speak up for what they want.

“We are dedicated to being inclusive and discussing women from around the world, and as Yvette Nicole Brown says, we aim to be on the right side of history,” Garvey said. “Therefore, we welcome feedback if we’re not showing up for someone properly.”
