Female Artists Dominate 2020 Grammy Award Nominations

By  |

The Recording Academy announced the 2020 Grammy Award nominees this week, and women led the pack.

Pop R&B singer Lizzo leads the women pack with eight nominations while pop phenomenon Billie Eilish follows behind with six nominations. Lizzo posted serval tweets to celebrate her gratitude for being most nominated.

17-year-old Billie Eilish has become the youngest artist to be nominated in four categories — Record of the Year, Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Lana Del Rey, H.E.R., Ariana Grande and Beyonce also earned nominations.

Last year’s Grammys had a similar trend of female nominees. Dua Lipa shouted out the Academy in her acceptance speech last year.

Lipa said, “I just wanted to say how honored I am to be nominated alongside so many incredible female artists this year, because I guess this year we really stepped up!”

Former first lady Michelle Obama was also nominated for a Grammy for best spoken word album for the audiobook narration of her memoir “Becoming.”

The 2020 Grammy Awards will be broadcasted live from the Los Angeles Staples Center on Jan. 26, 2020.
