Miley Cyrus Gets Divorce Papers After Short Marriage
In filing for divorce, Liam Hemsworth, 29, cited “irreconcilable differences” in his eight-month marriage to Miley Cyrus.
A rep for Cyrus confirmed in a statement to People magazine on Aug. 10 that the couple had called it quits. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
The couple met on the set of their film The Last Song in 2009, and the pair dated on and off over the years until their marriage in December 2018. On Friday, Miley released a new single titled “Slide Away,” which may provide her reason for the marriage’s failure, mentioning abuse of whiskey and pills. The song artwork shows a bottle of alcohol and pills floating in a pool.
