Marriott Grand Chateau – Las Vegas, Nevada

By  |

Opened since 2005, this non-casino property is positioned one block south of the Strip across the street from Planet Hollywood Hotel/Casino.  It’s part of the Marriott Vacation Club, but membership is not required to book accommodations.

Did you know the three French architectural styled towers form the shape of an X?

Muted tones adorn the walls of the elegant lobby and the guest rooms while vibrant colors of red, blue, gold and brown add punches of color in fabrics, tiles, tapestries and bed accents.

Accommodations range from one to three bedroom units, with rates from $170.00 – $489.00 per night, with a slight rate decrease in summer. There’s no resort fees and complimentary wireless internet.

We chose a two-bedroom unit as we were traveling with family. My grandson walked around the condo and asked with a smile, “Is this my new house?” Okay, so it hit the mark with a child – now I’ll offer the adult perspective.

The combination living/dining rooms were spacious; accommodating a sofa bed, HDTV, two club chairs, and a dining table with six upholstered chairs. The well-appointed kitchen featured full size appliances, granite countertops, nice stoneware and cookware along with a stackable washer and dryer.

The bedrooms flank both sides of the living areas allowing for privacy. Flat screen televisions are in both bedrooms and a closet safe is provided in the main bedroom.  The master bathroom’s outfitted with a soaking tub, separate vanities and freestanding stall shower.

The condominium was quiet and clean. Nothing appeared worn in need of repair or replacement.

Property amenities include: a well-equipped Fitness Center, two pools and an activity center. The SkyBar 38, at the rooftop pool, serves cocktails and beverages. With the completion of the third tower, a café has been added for coffee, sandwiches and pastries.

Although hard to find fault with this property, I did find two drawbacks. First, there is no self-parking – only valet parking. While the parking is complimentary, we experienced wait times to both park and retrieve our vehicle. Second, the rooftop pool is extremely small. While the panoramic view is stunning, the pool is the size of a postage stamp. Marriott has amended this, with the addition of the fifth floor pool in the newer tower, although it misses the skyline views.

All-in-all, the resort delivers value, charm and quality maintaining the standards of the Marriott brand.
