Lana Del Rey’s Cover of this Ariana Grande Hit is the Girl Power Crossover We Deserve

Lana Del Rey and Ariana Grande fans woke up to their two worlds beautifully colliding this morning.

Del Rey visited BBC Radio 1’s “Live Lounge” on Monday to promote her recently released album “Norman F*****g Rockwell” and surprised listeners with a hypnotic cover of Grande’s hit song “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored.”

Del Rey put her own classic old Hollywood spin on the song, showcasing her smooth and haunting vocals to create an experience in line with her recent album — glamorous yet perfectly fit for lying out on the California sand.

Grande praised the performance on Twitter, much to the excitement of fans.

The two have recently solidified themselves as one of the best power friendships of 2019.

Del Rey started chatting with Grande over text after the release of her album “Dangerous Woman” in 2016, but she became a Grande super fan when “Thank U, Next” hit the music scene in early 2019.

Grande later invited Del Rey to collaborate on a song called “Don’t Call Me Angel” for the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” movie soundtrack alongside herself and Miley Cyrus. The song is set to be released on Sept. 13, 2019.

This upcoming track release follows on the heels of the release of her latest album on Aug. 30, 2019. The album has received dazzling reviews, including Pitchfork’s highest album rating since 2014.

The album is an ode to her beloved California and her recent relationships with a healthy dose of apocalyptic awareness on the side. It was produced by Jack Antonoff, who also recently collaborated on Taylor Swift’s “Lover.”
