Emily VanCamp Eyed as Female Captain America

By  |

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken the world by storm this past decade, culminating in the explosive finale of a few phases with “Avengers: Endgame” earlier this year.

It goes without saying that there will be a bevy of new characters ushered forth to bring in the fourth phase of this beloved franchise. Some characters have kicked the bucket, of course, but others will be getting the new suit treatment — donning the capes and shields of the actors that came before them.

One such rumored role is that of a female Captain America, previously played by Chris Evans. The role is rumored to go to Canadian actress, Emily VanCamp, of ABC’s “Revenge.”

She showed her MCU acting chops in “Captain America: Civil War” (2016) as Sharon Carter aka Agent 13.

VanCamp isn’t the only rumored Captain America, though.

It’s expected that the MCU will have a number of different Captain Americas for this next phase.

Sam Wilson has already been tapped to play Captain America as of the ending of “Endgame,” and it’s said “that Marvel wants a female Cap, a gay Cap and a young black Cap. Apparently, this last character will appear as part of the Young Avengers,” according to We Got This Covered.

VanCamp was recently married to her husband, “Revenge” co-star Joshua Bowman in late 2018.
