By  |

Iconic Actress Demi Moore released her memoir, “Inside Out” which details intimate and emotional moments of her trouble childhood, including saving her mother from suicide, enduring three marriages, reaching sobriety and experiencing sexual assault as a child.

Throughout her career, the 56-year-old actress battled body issues, balanced motherhood with a career and suffered from insecurities from her childhood trauma that stayed with her for years.

Moore revealed one vivid memory that traumatized her at the age of 12 — she had to help her father stop one of her mother’s suicide attempts. In that moment, Moore realized that her life would never be the same.

“Something very deep inside me shifted then, and it never shifted back,” Moore wrote in her book. “My childhood was over.”

The memoir is honest and straightforward. Moore doesn’t hold back on any revelations, and she learns from her trauma to better her life as she continues to love herself.

Moore suffered a difficult childhood and still managed to reach stability. She discusses feeling neglected by her parents growing up, which led her to feel worthless.

Both of her parents battled alcoholism, and it deeply affected her growing up. At one point, she realized that the man she thought was her father was not her biological father. He committed suicide, and that trauma haunted her, making her feel unwanted.

Moore deeply describes her struggles with self-loathing, which drove her to an addiction problem, in the book. It’s about her not knowing who she is and then soul searching and learning self-acceptance.

Moore says this book is part of her healing journey — physically, mentally and emotionally.

“It’s exciting, and yet I feel very vulnerable,” Moore said.

She describes this memoir as more of an awakening than a comeback. This is the start of a new beginning for Moore as she embarks on a journey to heal from years of trauma.
