Bobbi Kristina Remembered as ‘Fearless’ and ‘Sweet’

By  |

She is officially gone now. Bobbi Kristina, 22, died in hospice on Sunday nearly six months after she was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her Roswell, Georgia, home on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Just the night before her passing, on Saturday, July 25, music producer and longtime family friend James Worthy attended the album listening party for her brother Bobby Brown Jr.  Worthy celebrated with Bobby Jr. and his father, Bobby Brown, at Headquarters Studio for his new album Bobby Got Juice.

“He’s been in a good place lately, but this is gonna rock him,” says Worthy of his friend and musical collaborator Bobby Brown, father of Bobbi Kristina.

Dealing with his own pain from the loss, he somberly said of Bobbi Kristina, “She was more fearless than anything.”

He says he has known her since she was 5 and been “part of the family,” producing music for all three Bobby’s, including Jr’s previous album, Champagne Nightmares. He adds, however, “She never thought she had to walk in her mother’s shoes.”

He admits that after her mother’s (Whitney Houston) death, “She could never be the same without her mother, and she kind of went off the deep end a little bit.”

Many people often want to talk about, or more aptly, criticize, Bobbi Kristina for issues with substance abuse. What people never saw, notes Worthy, is that she was “very sweet” and “always had a positive attitude.”

Although she certainly faced personal challenges privately and publicly, she was focused on becoming a singer. “I think she had potential,” says Worthy, “but she needed to be developed more to be that star.”

As for her father, who has been public about his feelings at times, Worthy feels optimistic about his outlook. “He’s been through a lot already. God’s got his back.”
