10 Regal Red Carpet Looks from the 2019 Emmy Awards

By  |

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards brought some iconic red — or, to be literal, purple— carpet looks.

Hollywood’s brightest stars arrived to the awards on Sunday night decked out in their finest garbs, with many wearing jewel-toned colors and regal metallics to match the carpet’s new hue.

This year’s red carpet was a fashion capsule fit for a queen, so here are our favorite looks from the royal celebrity court.

It may not be Valentine’s Day yet, but Mandy Moore’s sexy red and pink custom Brandon Maxwell gown had us falling in love. The off-the-shoulder dress also featured a thigh-high slit to show off her matching red shoes.

“Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner wore a pastel rose gold Louis Vuitton dress and stunning diamond necklace that had us swooning. Turner showed up sans-husband to the awards, but her spouse, Joe Jonas, sent over some loving words of encouragement via Instagram story before the show.

4. Brittany Snow

“Pitch Perfect” favorite Brittany Snow wowed in a Cinderella-esque pale blue gown by J. Mendel. She kept her red hair in soft waves, pairing the look with dangling silver earrings.

Another “Game of Thrones” star, Maisie Williams looked like an ethereal starry night in this JW Anderson couture gown. The gown featured intricate beading, with one side studded in silver beads and the other featuring a lone, beaded crescent moon.

“Fleabag” lead Phoebe Waller-Bridge won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series last night, and her elegant Monique Lhuillier gown looked gorgeous under the stage lights during her acceptance speech. The champagne-colored gown had shimmering gold and silver beading around the waist that made it stand out.

7. Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox’s bold Monsoori dress made a statement, but the real star of the show was her clutch for a cause, which listed the start date of oral arguments for a pivotal upcoming Supreme Court case that will determine whether Title VII, which outlaws discrimination based on race, sex, religion or origin, also protects transgender people. The clutch, made by Edie Parker, had the rainbow LGBTQ+ pride flag on one side with the words “Oct. 8 Title VII Supreme Court” and the transgender pride flag on the other side.

8. Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts’ black Dior ballgown was no basic black dress. The sophisticated dress featured a classic silhouette, but set itself apart with a netted tulle bodice and chunky belt around the waist.

9. Halsey

Another stand-out from designer Monique Lhuillier, Jameela Jamil’s Tiffany blue gown was an absolute dream. The star of “The Good Place” paired the dress with a matching clutch and earrings, but our favorite accessory was her bright, coral lipstick.
