Tennis Pro Given Code Violation For Changing Shirt
French Tennis Pro Alize Cornet was given a violation for unsportsmanlike conduct for changing her shirt during a match at the US Open yesterday.
Despite rules allowing male players to change their shirts on court, Cornet was penalized for removing her shirt, which she had accidentally put on backwards. This news comes mere days after American tennis star Serena Williams was banned from wearing a black catsuit by the French Open for any future events.
This focus on what women wear during athletic events has left more than a few tennis fans puzzled.
“I think it’s safe to say that women everywhere are pretty over dress codes that police our bodies,” wrote Christina Marfice for Scary Mommy. “They’re pointless and sexist and in the year of our lord 2018, it’s time for them to go.”
Alize Cornet came back to court after 10 minute heat break. Had her fresh shirt on back to front. Changed at back of court. Got a code violation. Unsportsmanlike conduct….. 😳
But the men can change shirts on court. https://t.co/sCN4KDXYTb

Cornet’s violation comes at an event that has been regularly played in 100 degree heat, causing five tennis players to retire on the second day, citing heat-related issues.
In an apparent act of defiance, Serena Williams took to the courts of the US Open in a black tutu and sparkling white tennis shoes, winning her first match.
There is no word as to whether or not Cornet will make a similar fashion statement during today’s match against Romanian Irinia Bara, perhaps donning several layers of shirts so as to avoid offending the judges’ tender sensibilities.
