Stars Camp Out at the MET Gala 2019
The Met Gala yet again brought the stars out wearing the most eye-catching, theatrical outfits for its 2019 ball on Monday featuring the theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
From Celine Dion to Zendaya, celebrities captured the theme, a “love of the unnatural, of artifice or exaggeration,” which was originally defined in Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp.’” Formally called the Costume Institute Gala, The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Lady Gaga wore not one but four outfits, beginning with in a voluminous bright pink dress by Brandon Maxwell. She then stripped down to a black gown, pink slip dress and finally into a crystal bra and panties.
Rapper Cardi B wore a burgundy gown with a quilted circular train trimmed with feathers along with ruby nipples designed by Thom Browne.
Celine Dion donned a 22-pound gold Oscar de la Renta dress, which reportedly took 3,000 hours to make. Dion complemented the glimmering dress with a sun goddess-like headpiece designed by Noel Stewart.
Kacey Musgraves committed to her Barbie cosplay wearing a pink Moschino leather dress. She arrived in a matching convertible and accessorizing with a blow-dryer bag, plush wrap, and cat-eyed shades. Clad in hot.
Katy Perry literally brought light to the Met Gala wearing a life-sized chandelier with electric candles and decorated with crystals, designed by Moschino’s Jeremy Scott.
Serena Williams showed off dedication to comfort and the event theme by wearing neon Nike sneakers that matched her bright yellow Atelier Versace gown.
Janelle Monáe made an eye-catching entrance wearing a custom Christian Siriano look, complete with an embellished eye that blinked as the star made her way down the carpet.
Kylie Jenner donned a shimmering, form-fitting, sheer mermaid gown with a purple feathered train and matching lavender hair. Her big sis Kendall Jenner wore a similar gown in a different color: organge.
