Ruby Rose to Play Batwoman in CW Crossover
Ruby Rose will be portraying Batwoman in an upcoming DC crossover on The CW.
Known for her work in Orange Is The New Black and John Wick: Chapter 2, Australian actress and model Ruby Rose will be originating the role of Batwoman and possibly starring in her own series in upcoming years.
“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence,” the show’s official summary reads. “But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
Rose’s first appearance as Batwoman will be featured in a crossover between CW shows The Flash, Arrow, Legends Of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. The standalone Batwoman series is currently slated to be written by Caroline Dries of The Vampire Diaries, who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.
