Review: Hampton Inn Boston-Natick

By  |
Hotel Review

Seventeen miles from the city of Boston and just off Interstate 90, the Hampton Inn, Natick, Massachusetts, is located near three educational institutions – Wellesley, Babson, and Boston Colleges. Shopping and dining choices, including the upscale Natick Collection Center, are within easy walking distance, making it a prime location for business and leisure travelers.

As a meeting and conference hotel, it remains a hub of activity. The lobby area sports a gift and sundries shop, not normally found in most Hampton Inns. Pleasant surprises include the size of the fitness room, which included free weights and a bench, and a charmingly decorated, impressive-size breakfast area. Complimentary features and amenities include parking, local shuttle service, business center, high-speed Internet, and hot breakfast.

Although this property has digital check-in, our family opted for the pleasant front desk staff check-in process. Our king-size bed suite featured a formal entryway that flanked the length of the open living and bedroom spaces. A bar area with refrigerator anchored one end of the foyer, transitioning into the comfortable living area with a large sofa, two upholstered arm chairs and cocktail table. Separating the spacious living and bedroom areas was a built-in workspace, sofa table and a bureau. The trademark Hampton Bed delivered the requisite clean, fresh and comfortable sleeping experience. Hampton bathrooms are similar, not large but functional and clean with toiletries and plush towels.

We registered one concern about the key card for the front door, but the matter was expeditiously resolved. This is not a newer hotel and some renovations have taken place since our visit.

OVERALL REVIEW

I’ve formulated general criteria when staying and reviewing hotels, which I term my “Eight Cs.” It’s not a grading system of A – F and sorry ladies it’s not the “4 Cs” established by the Gemological Institute of America for rating diamonds.

Here’s an application of the “Eight Cs” to this hotel and brand. It starts with convenience – proximity to the business or attraction determining the purpose and duration of the trip. It centers on choice – of accommodations and brands. It’s governed by cost – Hampton offers good value, moderate pricing and amenities. It’s determined by cleanliness and comfort – of surroundings, furnishings and bedding along with the ability to be connected – free internet. It’s consistency of product – that makes me a frequent guest. Finally, there’s confidence – is further instilled by the 100% satisfaction Hampton guarantee.
