NY Fashion Week 2018 Recap, News, Photos
Fashion week is just as amazing as it is crazy and hectic.
I call this experience a “beautiful chaos.” It’s an insane whirlwind of runways, photos, outfit changes, meetings, parties and trying to manage to eat something in between. This fashion week in particular was one of my favorites thus far. I attended one of the most anticipated shows, the CHROMAT runway show. I was there in support of my supermodel friend and this months HERS cover girl EMME. I also attended over 20 runway shows produced by Style Fashion Week. SFW global fashions and inclusive designs met the runway in a diverse way.
I got invited to so many events that I had to split it up between myself and my fashion team, including Michelle Lynch, Selena Huett, Brandon Tackett and “Hers “editor, Annette Johnson. Keep scrolling to check out our reviews from the best shows at ss19.
So who and what is Style Fashion Week! SFW produces globally recognized fashion events, and provides top designers a world class platform to showcase their collections. Each year Style Fashion Week presents the season’s must see shows, unforgettable performances and exclusive installations.
On day one of Style Fashion Week New York, designers, Romeo + Juliet Couture, David Tupaz, Richard Hallmarq, Bahmardi, Shay Kawaii and Adrian Alicia showcased SS’19 designs at the Manhattan Center. Guests of the shows additionally enjoyed performances by Heather LaRose, Natalya and Naima, presented by Vezt Music App. Models were beautified by Davines.
Though many brands noticeably brought more diversity to the runways this season, Chromat took things to the next level with a truly diverse cast of models. Along with featuring several plus-size models, Viktoria Modesta, an amputee singer-songwriter, also walked the show while wearing a prosthetic leg. Making for another powerful moment, breast cancer survivor Ericka Hart revealed her double mastectomy scars while modeling a sheer, neon look down the runway. Featuring a multitude of races, sizes, and body types, Chromat’s cast was an inspiring highlight of the week.
Fashion week is a great time to go crazy with street style looks, but I’ve found that sometimes the more simple (we’ll, my version of simple), the better! This amazing shirt from eclectic Soho boutique, Oroboro that I wore the first day was the perfect example of that.
On day two of Style Fashion Week New York, designers, Matte Brand, Sweet Talk Swim, Adriana Sahar, Raul Penarada, Hirun Bangkok, Elie Madi and Rocky Gathercole showcased SS’19 designs at the Manhattan Center. Sitting front row was Ming Lee Simmons, Diggy Simmons, Julz Goddard (YesJulz), WolfTyla, Sihoban Bell, Deborah Cox and others.
