Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Announce Engagement
Rumors have been circulating since July that singer Nick Jonas was engaged to actress Priyanka Chopra, but it wasn’t until Saturday that the pair actually confirmed it. Jonas, 25, and Chopra, 36, posted the same picture to their separate Instagram accounts. It featured Chopra and Jonas staring into each other’s eyes, the engagement ring prominently displayed.
Jonas captioned the pic by saying, “Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love.” Chopra wrote “Taken… with all my heart and soul.”
The pair, who met at the Met Gala in 2017, recently traveled to India to participate in a roka ceremony, traditional for Indian engagements. Last Thursday, Jonas was spotted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai with his parents, Paul and Denise Jonas, who had also flown in to celebrate with Chopra’s family. While this is reportedly his parents first time traveling to India, this is the second time for Jonas, who first met Chopra’s mother back in June.
“I think he really enjoyed it,” Chopra told People about the trip. “It was really beautiful.”
Nick’s not the only Jonas brother with a wedding to plan. Last October, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner also announced their engagement on Instagram by posting matching pictures. Turner, 21, captioned the pic, “I said yes,” while Jonas echoed the sentiment, writing, “She said yes.”
Shortly after Nick and Priyanka announced their engagement, Sophie and Joe took to social media to congratulate them.
“Wow. First I’m blessed with an incredible future brother-in-law, and now such an beautiful, inside and out, future sister-in-law,” said Turner on Instagram. “I’m so excited to welcome you into the family @priyankachopra. I love you both @nickjonas.”
Joe shared the same photo his brother posted with the caption, “I couldn’t be happier for my brother. Welcome to the family @priyankachopra We love you.”
After the roka ceremony ended on Saturday, the couple spent the next day at S. Catherine’s Home for Orphans in Mumbai. Jonas’ parents were also in attendance as Jonas and Chopra both performed for the children, with Chopra dancing and Jonas singing the Jonas’ Brothers song “Lovebug”. Chopra shared a video of Jonas with the caption, “12 years of knowing these girls and they get all love struck by the #lovebug… thank you @nickjonas and our families,” she wrote. “Thank you to the sisters and all the girls at St. Catherine’s orphanage for opening your hearts to us again. I’ll see you next time.”
