Macy’s Celebrates Black History Month in Atlanta

Whether it be film or fashion, one thing that we all know about Atlanta is that it’s always hot, thus the moniker “Hotlanta.” Macy’s at Lenox Square Mall hosted a competition style fashion show on Thursday, Feb. 22nd, in honor of Black History month.

The fashion show featured four up-and-coming stylists, who created looks based on prominent black figures in today’s culture. The stylists battled to create their twist on fashion looks inspired by Michelle Obama, RihannaDapper Dan, and Ursula Burns.

Ashlee K. Thomas from MUCE (Miami Urban Contemporary Experience) hosted the fashion presentation and introduced Atlanta’s prolific leaders, who led a discussion on the importance of technology and community development within the black community. There were also special live performances by gospel artist Karmyn and R&B artist Jori.
