Kandi Burruss Talks Pregnancy, Music and Entrepreneurship
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss recently revealed that it has been a struggle for her and husband Todd Tucker to grow their family.
Burruss told Essence the different obstacles she has faced with conceiving a baby, saying, “Unfortunately, it’s not happening.” This being her last season on the show, she mentioned that fans will see her struggle with fertility on the upcoming season of RHOA.
“We’re just going to be talking about what that means for our family.” The 42-year-old songwriter also added, “I know a lot of people thought that meant that I was pregnant, but I’m not pregnant. Let’s be clear. I saw that floating around the internet.”
Burruss learned a lot about herself during this process and kept an important reminder to herself, “Don’t feel like you’re any less of a woman.” Making an effort to build herself up, she shared coping methods and inspiration in order to help other women who are experiencing the same or similar fertility issues.
“The road hasn’t been easy,” said the mother of three. The couple welcomed their son, Ace Wells Tucker, in January 2016. She also has a 16-year-old daughter, Riley Burruss, and Todd has daughter, Kaela Tucker.
“You know how we all just think it’s easy. You’re going to get pregnant whenever you feel like it,” she said. “It’s about being patient and knowing what’s for you is for you, and pray about it, and look at all your options and whatever you can try to make happen, make it happen if you can.”
Although she may be discouraged after watching castmates Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore get pregnant, the singer said she’s “patient.” Meanwhile, she is now on a path of professional success with her restaurant — Old Lady Gang — and is planning to open a new location.
Along with developing a makeup line, fans are ready for new solo music from the former Xscape member. Buruss has also been awarded her first “Best Female Songwriter of the Year” within her 25-year career.
She released a new single, “Ready For This,” last week, which is debuted in the Top 10 on iTunes. Ironically, the music video features a sex[y] dungeon, which RHOA former co-star Phaedra Parks included as part of a rumor, claiming Burruss tried to drug Williams and take her into a sex dungeon.

Burruss denied the rumors. “Naw, me and her ain’t talk. We ain’t gonna talk,” she during the interview. “Realistically, I don’t feel like she ever apologized to me.”
Deciding to make lemonade with the lemons, Burruss is throwing an actual dungeon party this season on RHOA. “I am gonna bring it to life,” she said.
