Did you see Pink at the 2017 American music awards? You couldn’t miss her because she performed the opening act along with Kelly Clarkson, singing R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts,” and then she did a high-flying performance on the side of JW Marriott Hotel as her follow-up.

Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the show was broadcast live Sunday night on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. It featured and highlighted female performers, including Selena GomezDemi Lovato and Lady Gaga, who appeared via satellite from her concert in Washington, D.C.

Christina Aguilera performs WhitneyNot to be outdone was Christina Aguilera, who did a medley tribute to Whitney Houston for the 25th anniversary of “The Bodyguard.” While Christina has garnered mixed reviews on the performance itself, she no doubt, left the audience and viewers with beautiful memories of Houston, who won the most AMA’s of any female singer.

Music magic continued with a second performance by Clarkson. She, too, reminded us why she has been a winner ever since American Idol. Clarkson began her medley with her first big single, “Miss Independent.” Then came her new single, “Love So Soft,” from her latest album, Meaning of Life.

The night ended with a music diva tribute to Diana Ross, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award. It was her grandson Raif Kendrick who stole the show, however. When she invited her grandchildren on stage to dance as she sang “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” he made his own show, dancing and strutting behind his grandmother.

In accepting the honor, Ross tearfully said, “This is all about love, This is my family and I’m sending love out there to each and everyone one of you—our global family. I’m so humbled. I love you so very much and I think you know that. I really, really love you so very much and I will hold onto this beautiful honor. Thank you.”
