Harvey Weinstein Statue Erected in Hollywood on Same Day Women Take Over His Company

By  |

Harvey Weinstein is back in Hollywood for the Oscars, just not in the way you’d think. A golden statue of Weinstein on his infamous casting couch has been erected (pun intended) in Hollywood just days before the Oscars.

In the statue, Weinstein is depicted in a sleazy open robe with his legs spread, holding a Golden Globe Award in between his legs. The statue emulates Weinstein’s well-known belief that if you wanted to make it big in the industry, you had to please him.

Harvey Weinstein, golden statue

The statue was created by a street artist that goes by the name, Plastic Jesus. He says the piece took two months to create and was paid for completely by donations.

Throughout the course of the #MeToo and #Time’s Up Movements, there have been countless allegations of rape, sexual assault and harassment made against Harvey Weinstein by the women of Hollywood. Some of these women include Rose McGowen, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Kate Beckinsale, Cara Delevingne, and the list goes on and on for miles.

Since the countless testimonies have surfaced, Weinstein was fired from his own company, is tied up in legal matters and has become a pariah in Hollywood with everyone refusing to work with him or be associated in any way with his old studio.

However, this attitude towards the tainted company may turn around very soon. After Weinstein left the company, so did most of the board members. The studio was facing bankruptcy until very recently.

It was just announced late last night that The Weinstein Company will now be run by a largely female board after an investor group, led by the businesswoman Maria Contreras-Sweet, paid $500 million for its assets.

Now that the women of Hollywood are taking back their power both in business and on the big screen, this statue is the final nail in the coffin for Harvey Weinstein’s career, reputation, and way of life. The corrupt king has officially been dethroned from his casting couch.
