Global Runway 2018 Soared Past Expectations

By  |

Unfortunately, going to the airport isn’t exactly “fun” for most people. There’s expensive parking and food, long lines, delayed flights, sad goodbyes and a variety of other negative connotations. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, however, is working to change that by showing Atlanta everything it has to offer.

The Atlanta International Airport stylishly presented Global Runway 2018, a fashion presentation and retail pop-up experience yesterday, May 16. Hosted by InStyle Magazine Editor Kahlana Barfield, it’s no surprise that the event was indeed full of style.

There were a variety of retail installments meant to highlight ATL Skypointe, a program designed for guests to shop, dine and explore Atlanta.  The installments included national brands such as MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, Terner and XpressSpa. And several of the pop-up shops weren’t simply for show either. Quests were treated to free massages, makeovers and merchandise from a few of the represented brands.

The afternoon wasn’t all pampering and hors d’oeuvres, though. A silent auction was held to benefit Bert’s Big Adventure which is a non-profit organization led by the Q100 radio station that provides all-expense-paid trips to Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.

And of course, you can’t have Global Runway 2018 without the runway. The evening’s final event was a fashion show which featured prominent brands such as Spanx, ExOfficio, Brooks Brothers and Sean John.

Overall, the event was rather glamourous and breathtaking, not at all the negative aspects usually associated with airports. The room was filled with creative minds, entrepreneurs and fashion-forward thinkers, all feeding off each other’s ideas and inspiration. While the planes soared just out the window, Global Runway 2018 soared right into the position of one of Atlanta’s top new events.
