Budding Fashion Designers Have a New Market

By  |

Once Shannon Lohr discovered that the fashion industry is environmentally “dirty,” she decided to do something about it.

In 2011, she launched the highest funded, fashion-related, crowdsource funding campaign when she and her business partner decided that they wanted to produce environmentally-friendly clothing. Their “sustainable fashion” grew in popularity, but the partners ultimately decided to part ways.

Lohr went on to create Factory45 as an online platform to help budding fashion designers create eco-friendly fashion brands. Her 6-month program guides aspiring clothing designers from the idea stage to launch, but now it has evolved to help designers in the next phases of their process: sales.

In November 2018, she introduced Market45 as means for these clothing entrepreneurs to sell their wares. Market45 is an e-commerce platform where “sustainable-focused” designers can sell their goods.

To date, Shannon has worked with more than 150 entrepreneurs in the eco fashion space. Designers only use sustainable fabrics and manufacture in the United States.
