Black Panther Kills as Contestant on Black Jeopardy

By  |

Chadwick Boseman, star of “Black Panther,” hosted SNL this weekend and even made an appearance as his famous “Black Panther” character, Prince (now King) T’Challa.

The skit in which T’Challa appeared is a reacurring sketch called, “Black Jeopardy” in which the host, Keenan Thompson, and two other African American SNL cast members answer comical jeopardy questions. The third contestant is usually the host of that night’s SNL episode.

This week’s episode was especially hilarious as Keenan Thompson said, “Boy, this might be the blackest ‘Black Jeopardy’ yet.” The sketch played on T’Challa’s sheltered and innocent view of Black culture based in the utopian  fictional country of Wakanda.

One of the best examples of the cultural divide was during the category, “Aw Hell Nah” for $800.

“The police man says there’s been some robberies in your neighborhood, and asks if you have ‘any information,’” Thompson said, to which Boseman’s T’Challa responded with, “What is, not only do I tell this man what I know,” T’Challa said, “but I also assist him in tracking down the offender. After all, our ministers of law enforcement are only here to protect us. Is this correct?”

The scene just kept getting better as T’Challa started catching on to the cultural differences and actually uses the phrase, “bland-ass potato salad,” in his charming Wakandan accent of course.

Black Panther will return in “Avengers: Infinty War” on April 27.
