Want to do something other than eating barbecue or lighting fireworks this Independence Day holiday? Here are five fun events for you to participate in.


  1. Stone Mountain Fantastic Fourth of July Celebration

If you like laser show shows and fireworks, then Stone Mountain is the place for you to celebrate Independence Day. Plus, the event is for free aside for the $20 parking fee.


  1. Georgia Aquarium Celebration: Red, White & Brew

Want to celebrate your 4th with beer, BBQ pulled pork, and 500 aquatic species? If so, buy a ticket to celebrate the holiday at the Georgia Aquarium. Tickets are $65. (SOLD OUT)

  1. Peachtree Road Race

While we can certainly celebrate Independence Day this Thursday, we can also help support and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Peachtree Road Race. The race takes place along a 10-kilometer starting at Peachtree Road at Lenox Mall and ending at Piedmont Park. The last team of runners gets started at 8:40 a.m.

  1. Salute to the Red, White and Blue

This event is an Independence Day Celebration in Fulton County with live music, a carnival, and food vendors. Patrons can celebrate the big holiday for free at this event.


  1. Celebrate Independence Day with the Braves

The Atlanta Braves will celebrate Independence Day with a pregame celebration, special video presentation, 13-gun salute, and a firework show. Tickets are $24 and up.


  1. Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta

Hailed as the biggest fireworks show in the Southeast, the events starts with music by DJ Yvonne Monet at 7:30 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9:45. The event is free.
