4 Ways to Achieve Maximum Fun on a Budget This Summer

By  |

When Alice Cooper released the song “School’s Out,” it became a hit for a reason. Summer for kids means no more tests, homework, teachers, or annoying classmates. However, for parents, it means that children will be home for the next three months with nothing but free time. Because parents didn’t receive a three month vacation like their kids, it can be difficult to find ways to entertain them and on a budget. Fortunately there are businesses that understand and carry promotions for children throughout the summer. Here are a few places that are perfect for kids to get the most out of their new found freedom.

Golden Corral: This summer, Golden Corral will be offering 99 cent meals to children between ages 4-12 until July 22. Families can receive a maximum of two kid’s meals for 99 cents each. The promotion includes a buffet meal and a drink, and is available after 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and after 11 a.m. on Sunday. This deal is hard to beat, especially with growing boys who seem to eat everything in sight.

Bowling: One of the best pastimes that kids enjoy and consider a lot of fun is bowling. Kid Bowl Free is a program that offers kids two free games of bowling every day throughout the summer. All you have to do is register on their website and find your closest participating bowling center to sign up for the program.

AMC, Cinamark, and Regal Theaters: Depending on your city and state, these theaters offer discount movie tickets for as low as $1. Regal Cinemas is offering dollar  movie Tuesdays and Wednesdays  mornings for kids until July 25. Cinamark theaters even have a special day for seniors and a daily early bird special. AMC theaters is offering $4 movies every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. until Aug. 1. Some of their movie selection includes “Paddington Bear 2,” “Boss Baby” and “Trolls.”

Museums: There are plenty of places where kids can have fun playing out in the sun, but just because it’s summer doesn’t mean they should stop learning. On certain days museums have a free admission fee for children, and even plan events for them to enjoy. At the Atlanta High Museum of Art, on the second Sunday of each month, there is a free admission day for children to experience and socialize with other children. There are activities for ages 4-10 including arts and crafts, music classes, story time on the lawn, improve and theater shows, and dance parties. Check your local museum and see what special family events they offer.
