By  |

Every woman has their version of what success looks like to them. Our dreams and aspirations are all different but we all want one thing- to be fulfilled.

Everyone is trying to be successful whether it be in their careers or personal relationships. The problem is many women don’t know where to begin. The best way to reach your own version of success is to forget what everyone says and live your life however you wish.

If you want to become like the successful women you admire then use these tips to make your own decisions about who you want to be.

Be Unapologetically You

Our differences are what makes us special and sets us apart from the rest of the world. The skills you have may be entirely different from anyone else who is after the say thing you are. Never apologize for being yourself and if it is troubling to someone else then let it be. Apologizing for who you are will give those opposing you the upper hand. Be firm in the decisions you make and make them intelligently and with pride. Don’t put on a face just to impress anybody and if they don’t like you then move on and find someone who will.

Be Your Own Oprah or Ellen

People like Oprah and Ellen are the epitome of success and individuality. The diversity among these two have created international cultural phenomenons and extreme followings. Part of their success is due to being unapologetic, but the truth behind their accomplishments is that they are real. Their transparency about who they are or what they’ve done is refreshing. Their actions are not to impress anyone and they lend their voices to speak for minority communities. It is their authenticity that makes them relatable.

Confidence is Key

They may call it arrogance but I call it confidence. The more you believe you can do something the more likely it is to come true. You should ignore the doubts that enter your mind and realize that your dream could be waiting for you on the other side. If you don’t take any risks then there won’t be any rewards. Having real confidence takes time but you must learn to love yourself and believe in who you are before you will reach the height of your success.

Failure Leads to Perfection

If you think everything you’ll try will be perfect, there’s a surprise waiting for you. Even the most successful women don’t get anywhere without failing at something in their life. The key to rising is to learn from mistakes you have made and begin anew. Start over, and if that doesn’t work try something different. Never give up on yourself because you didn’t do it the way society told you was right. It could be a quick recovery or a long one, but the key is to recover and not dwell on the small misfortunes. Failure is the best way to learn and to fail means that you’re improving. Be comfortable and allow yourself to fail, then success will be right around the corner.

Be The Boss

Being a boss doesn’t mean to be a tyrant. It means to lead your entire team to success and to make sure everyone arrives together. Show faith in your team and in their capabilities to achieve your vision. Take responsibility when things go awry and be the mentor to guide them to success. If you can be an example, be an inspiration, and take the initiative to be a leader, then your team will have a new gained respect for you and your project.

Be Bold

Don’t go jumping out of a plane unless you absolutely want to, but don’t fear the unknown because it looks dangerous or scary. You have to take bold strides in order for it to have an affect in your life. Be smart and out smart your competition with new and creative ideas. Success requires you to be assertive and aggressive so don’t be afraid to speak your mind and shrink for other people’s egos. Stand firm in your beliefs and you will be admired by many.

Make a List, Then Throw It Out

Making a list can be a great tool to organize your day, but rarely do lists get completed and they never do within the time desired. Next time you make a list, look over it and throw it out. Take only the most important tasks or goals and focus on those.  Goals are the best way to stay organize and keep track of your future. Set your expectation high, but don’t be disappointed if you fall short. Focus on the issues that are important instead of becoming overwhelmed with the small stuff.

“Be Kind To One Another”

As Ellen says, “Be kind to one another.” The truth is that if you are a kind and caring person more people will gravitate towards you. Successful people like Ellen and Oprah both have something in common- compassion. Their desire to be selfless and spread positive energy to the world by sharing their wealth and the power of their platform, has made them beloved figures. Their ability to connect with people on a deeper human level is why so many viewers tune in every day to watch their shows.

Mental and Physical Health Will Take You Far

Taking care of others does not mean forgetting about yourself. Your personal well being is just as important as the people you care about.  Stress and anxiety can cause physical and mental health problems including stress eating and weight gain, panic attacks, social discomfort, high blood pressure, heart disease, and many other issues. Take a yoga class, go for a run, or meditate for a while to temporarily relieve yourself of responsibilities. With all the work you contribute to the world, let the good karma catch up to you. The better you feel, the better you’ll perform.

Take a Break and Have Some Fun

Relax for awhile and go on a vacation if you can. The world is full of beauty meant to be seen and explored. Let the kids play in the park while you read a book or drink a glass of wine while your partner cooks dinner. Don’t let the stress catch up to you and end up crashing and burning. Be young and wild and free no matter how old you are. There is no age limit on fun so enjoy every moment like its your last.
